Barcelona’s skyline is shaped by the three chimneys of St. Adria de Besos. The Future Termicas project manages to conserve the structures of the existing thermal energy plant and proposes a canopy system.
The relationships between units, circulation and existing elements form the interconnected mixed use system of the project. The canopy is a cluster of suspended residential units that are linked together by catwalks which lead to the vertical circulation located within the existing towers. The units distribution consider spatial and organizational patterns adaptable to change.
